Marengo Cave is a privately owned cave [1] located in Marengo, Indiana. One of only four show caves in Indiana, public tours of the cave have been given since 1883. Tours commenced just days after the cave's discovery by two school children. The cave was designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1984. [2]
The main campground offers several waterfront campsites. The other campground is west of the lake and is designed for larger recreational vehicles. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has announced plans to drain the lake in the fall of 2008 in order to repair the dam and to eradicate gizzard shad which are detrimental to the fishery.
