Arkansaurus measured about 4.6 metres (15 ft) long and weighed about 380.5 kilograms (839 lb). [8] [9] Examination of the holotype consisting of a nearly complete right foot suggests that Arkansaurus was similar to most ornithomimosaurians of the Early Cretaceous, with the strong curvature of the foot claws being the only exception: most ornithomimosaurians had flat claws. This is a list of U.S. state dinosaurs in the United States, including the District of Columbia. Many states also have dinosaurs as state fossils, or designate named avian dinosaurs (List of U.S. state birds), but this list only includes those that have been officially designated as "state dinosaurs".
On land the state was home to long necked sauropod dinosaurs, who left behind footprints and ostrich dinosaurs such as Arkansaurus. [3] During the Cenozoic the state's seas were inhabited by marine invertebrates and sharks, although the waters were gradually shrinking away. During the Ice Age, the state's climate cooled.
Ornithomimosauria ("bird-mimic lizards") are theropod dinosaurs which bore a superficial resemblance to the modern-day ostrich. They were fast, omnivorous or herbivorous dinosaurs from the Cretaceous Period of Laurasia (now Asia, Europe and North America), as well as Africa and possibly Australia. Speculative life restoration. In 1995, Nesov named a new species of ornithomimosaur from the Bissekty Formation as Archaeornithomimus bissektensis, based on the holotype N 479/12457, a femur of a juvenile individual, along with other referred specimens including the metatarsals. [1]

They first appeared during the Triassic period, between 243 and 233.23 million years ago, although the exact origin and timing of the evolution of dinosaurs is the subject of active research.
