The hotel was named after "the Sagamore", an American Indian character in the James Fenimore Cooper novel The Last of the Mohicans (1826). Several of Lake George's nearby islands are also named after characters from the book. [citation needed] Twice damaged by fire, in 1893 and 1914, the Sagamore was rebuilt in early 1921.

The Historic Anderson House Hotel is a hotel and event venue in Wabasha, Minnesota, United States. The hotel opened in 1856 and was Minnesota's oldest continuously operating bed and breakfast inn west of the Mississippi River. Most of the furniture dates back to 1856 as well. The Kettle Falls Hotel is a historic hotel in what is now Voyageurs National Park in the U.S. state of Minnesota. [2] It opened in 1913 deep in the wilderness of the Boundary Waters, at the juncture of Namakan and Rainy Lakes. Today it is the only lodging operating inside the park, and remains accessible only by water. [3]
