Since 1999, Port Townsend has held its annual international film festival in September. The Rose Theatre [20] downtown shows contemporary American and foreign films. The Uptown Theater shows family-oriented films, and a nearby drive-in theater is open during the summer.

The Uptown Theatre in Chicago. A movie palace (or picture palace in the United Kingdom) is a large, elaborately decorated movie theater built from the 1910s to the 1940s. The late 1920s saw the peak of the movie palace, with hundreds opening every year between 1925 and 1930.
At opening the theater seated 1,500: it was the first theater in Utica to use stadium seating. The theater changed management and business strategy several times through the '90s and early 2000s. [5]
