The Johor Bahru Conurbation, also known as the Southern Conurbation (Malay: Konurbasi Selatan; Jawi: كونورباسي سلاتن) in the National Physical Plan, [1] [2] is the built-up urban or metropolitan area within and around Johor Bahru in the Malaysian state of Johor, and roughly corresponds to the Iskandar Malaysia corridor.
The Astaka is a twin-tower residential complex in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Tower A, with a height of 278.9 m (915 ft), became the tallest skyscraper in Johor Bahru upon its completion in 2017. It is also the tallest residential skyscraper in Southeast Asia and the tallest building in Malaysia outside of Kuala Lumpur. [1]

The building's architecture combines colonial and Malay architecture with its Saracenic design and tower making it a landmark in Johor Bahru. The present area of Johor Bahru was originally known as Tanjung Puteri, and was a fishing village of the Malays. Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim then renamed Tanjung Puteri to Iskandar Puteri upon his arrival to the area in 1858, after acquiring the territory from Sultan Ali. [4]
