She won her first South African national championship in the 100 metres hurdles in 2021. [1] In 2022, Fourie became national champion for the second time, [2] and won the bronze medal at the African Championships in the 100 metres hurdles. She became just the third South African woman of all time to run below 13 seconds for the event. [3]

She competed at the 1984 Olympic Games for Great Britain and the 1992 Olympic Games for South Africa, both times in the 3000 metres. In 1984 (unratified) and 1985, she broke the world record in the 5000 metres.
