The village of East Syracuse and the northern part of the town of DeWitt is protected by firefighters from the East Syracuse Fire Department. The museum is located in the former quarters of Syracuse Fire Department's Engine Co. 4. Located in "Little Italy", the station was built in the late 1800s at 229 Wolf Street, with additional expansions over the years. Engine Co. 4 was disbanded in the mid 1900's, [4] and the building has been largely vacant since then.
