Roma is a rural town and locality in the Maranoa Region, Queensland, Australia. [3] [4] It is the administrative centre of the Maranoa Region.The town was incorporated in 1867 and is named after Lady Diamantina Bowen (née di Roma), the wife of Sir George Bowen, the Governor of Queensland at the time.
It was previously thought that the highest temperature in Australia was 53.1 °C (127.6 °F) in Cloncurry, Queensland, on 16 January 1889. This record has been removed by the Bureau of Meteorology though as it was measured using a non-standard temperature screen. It is believed that the temperature that day was most likely about 47 °C (117 °F).
4ZR is an Australian commercial radio station located in Roma, Queensland. [1] The station broadcasts to the Maranoa Region on 1476 AM and provides a streams live on its website. 4ZR was officially opened on 23 July 1937 by Attorney-General, Robert Menzies. [2] [3] The station is currently owned by Resonate Broadcasting.

Roma is served by Queensland Rail Travel's twice weekly Westlander service travelling between Brisbane and Charleville. [2] The Westbound service (3S86) arrives at Roma at 6:05am and departs at 6:15am Wednesdays and Fridays. The eastbound service (3987) arrives at 11:25pm and departs at 11:35pm Wednesdays and Fridays.
