It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as US Post Office—Boulder Main in 1986. On August 4, 2022, following the 2021 Boulder shooting , the building was dedicated in honor of police officer Eric Talley, who was killed while responding to the shooting. [ 2 ]
US Post Office and Federal Courthouse-Colorado Springs Main, also known as the Colorado Springs Post Office and Federal Courthouse, is a historic federal building that serves as a post office and courthouse. It is located at 210 East Pikes Peak Avenue in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Completed between 1910 and 1916, the building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, as U.S. Post Office and Federal Building. [1] In 1994, it was renamed in honor of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Byron White (1917–2002) a native of Fort Collins, Colorado .
Post office interior and mural, July 2018. The building's design, generally Classical Revival and with Colonial Revival details, is credited to Louis A. Simon. [2]The mural mounted above the Postmaster's office door, titled "Colorado Landscape", was painted on canvas in 1942 by artist George Vander Sluis (1915-1984).
