Delaware Bay is the estuary outlet of the Delaware River on the northeast seaboard of the United States, lying between the states of Delaware and New Jersey. It is approximately 782 square miles (2,030 km 2 ) in area, [ 2 ] the bay's freshwater mixes for many miles with the saltwater of the Atlantic Ocean .

In the 1880s, Woodland Beach was a resort area that was the terminus for the Kent County and Delaware Bay Railroad and daily steamboats from the Delaware City, Salem, and Philadelphia Steamboat Company. [3]
Woodland Beach Wildlife Area is a state wildlife area located in Kent County, Delaware, along shore of the Delaware Bay. It is 6,320 acres (2,558 ha) in size and is managed by Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Division of Fish & Wildlife.
