Stargate Universe (often abbreviated as SGU) is a military science fiction drama television series and part of MGM's Stargate franchise. It follows the adventures of a present-day, multinational exploration team traveling on the Ancient spaceship Destiny several billion light years distant from the Milky Way Galaxy .

As Lisa Park is still recovering from T.J.'s treatment to try to restore her vision, Dr. Rush and Eli inform Colonel Young that they have been able to improve Destiny ' s sensors, but show that Command Ships await them at every Stargate from where they are to the edge of the galaxy, rendering themselves unable to obtain supplies.

Destiny is locked in a battle with a drone "cluster" and surprised that Chloe has contacted the aliens who abducted her in "Space (part 1)". The aliens engage the drones, allowing Destiny to destroy the command ship. The Ursini aliens, on the seed ship, send a message that contacting their lost colony has alerted a second drone cluster.
Meanwhile, Sgt. Riley (Haig Sutherland) has taken over kino duties, documenting activities around the ship. However their efforts are hampered by Destiny's sudden loss of power, including the kinos. As the off-world team explores the tunnels searching for a way out, Eli comes up with a plan to get them back to Destiny.
Rather than dialing Earth, Dr. Nicholas Rush dials a ninth chevron address, sending them to Destiny, an Ancient starship located billions of lightyears from Earth. After arriving on the Destiny, the team discovers that the ship's life support system is failing, and they must find a way to fix it.
