The unified modeling language (UML) is a general-purpose visual modeling language that is intended to provide a standard way to visualize the design of a system. [ 1 ] UML provides a standard notation for many types of diagrams which can be roughly divided into three main groups: behavior diagrams, interaction diagrams, and structure diagrams.
It was described for the first time in 2002 in the book "Executable UML: A Foundation for Model-Driven Architecture". [1] The language "combines a subset of the UML (Unified Modeling Language) graphical notation with executable semantics and timing rules." [2] The Executable UML method is the successor to the Shlaer–Mellor method. [3]
The C4 model was created by the software architect Simon Brown between 2006 and 2011 on the roots of Unified Modelling Language (UML) and the 4+1 architectural view model. The launch of an official website under a Creative Commons license [ 3 ] and an article [ 4 ] published in 2018 popularised the emerging technique.
Architecture description languages (ADLs) are used in several disciplines: system engineering, software engineering, and enterprise modelling and engineering.. The system engineering community uses an architecture description language as a language and/or a conceptual model to describe and represent system architectures.
Insurance claim process depicted in ArchiMate. Archimate enables modelling in different layers. ArchiMate (/ ˈ ɑːr k ɪ m eɪ t / AR-ki-mayt) is an open and independent enterprise architecture modeling language to support the description, analysis and visualization of architecture within and across business domains [1] in an unambiguous way.
UML color standards are a set of four colors associated with Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams. The coloring system indicates which of several archetypes apply to the UML object. UML typically identifies a stereotype with a bracketed comment for each object identifying whether it is a class, interface, etc.
MOF is designed as a four-layered architecture. It provides a meta-meta model at the top layer, called the M3 layer. This M3-model is the language used by MOF to build metamodels, called M2-models. The most prominent example of a Layer 2 MOF model is the UML metamodel, the model that describes the UML itself.
UML can be used for modeling a system independent of a platform language. UML is a graphical language for visualizing, specifying, constructing, and documenting information about software-intensive systems. [3] UML gives a standard way to write a system model, covering conceptual ideas. [4] [note 2] With an understanding of modeling, the use ...
