Diamond Springs (formerly, Diamond Spring and Diamond) [2] is a census-designated place (CDP) in El Dorado County, California, United States. It is part of the Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 11,037 at the 2010 census, up from 4,888 at the 2000 census.
A visitor center contains information about the geology of the park, a gift shop, and a cafe. Interested visitors can continue to the Diamond Discovery Center, which offers an interpretive look at prospecting for diamonds. The Diamond Springs aquatic playground, enclosed pavilion, trails, and picnic areas surround the diamond field. [4]
Diamond Springs takes its name from a stream which was a landmark and watering place for travelers on the Santa Fe Trail, which is located approximately four miles north on private property. [ 2 ] The post office in Diamond Springs was discontinued in 1930.
