The in-game 'Outlaw' game seems to play some role here. The alpha crashes your headband, along with other enforcers. A timeskip later, you see that Hypnospace's a bit of a mess. At the end, it also leads to the end credits. I suggest watching SB's playthrough of this, long videos but he goes through the game a bit thoroughly.
