William C. Edwards, who started his career in journalism as a reporter for the weekly Denton Chronicle in 1886, took ownership of that newspaper and the city’s other weekly, the Denton County Record, and merged them into the Denton Record and Chronicle in 1901. Shiloh Field Community Garden is a community garden in Denton, Texas that grows produce for local food pantries and charities. At 14.5 acres, it is considered the largest community garden in the United States by the American Community Garden Association. [1] The garden was founded in 2009 by Gene Gumfory (1939–2020). [2]

The Post-Signal is Denton County's oldest continuously published newspaper. [2] The Pilot Point Post, owned and operated by David Jesse Moffitt and James Taliaferro Jones, began publishing in 1878 [3] after several earlier attempts to establish a newspaper in the area had failed. By 1890, Moffitt had become the sole owner.
