Hackney London Borough Council, also known as Hackney Council, is the local authority for the London Borough of Hackney, in Greater London, England. It is a London borough council, one of 32 in London. The council has been under Labour majority control since 2002. Since 2002 the council has been led by a directly elected mayor.

The by-election took place on 12 September 2024, following the resignation of Mete Coban, who became Deputy Mayor of London for Environment and Energy. [1] The Green Party's gain in Stoke Newington increased their representation on the council to three seats, the highest number they have held since 1992, when they held two seats.

Springfield is a ward in the London Borough of Hackney occupying much of Upper Clapton and some of Stamford Hill; the ward is part of the Hackney North and Stoke Newington constituency. The name is derived from Springfield Park. The ward returns three councillors to the Borough Council, with elections every four years.
