Walnut Creek is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in central Walnut Creek Township, Holmes County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2020 census , it had a population of 908. Located in Ohio's Amish Country , Walnut Creek is a popular location for tourists.
In 2019, CHPL had an annual circulation of over twenty-one million items, the second highest circulation of any public library in the country. The library building was proposed as early as 1901 when the public used a reading room in Columbus's city hall. In 1903, Andrew Carnegie largely funded its construction, making it a Carnegie library. The library was designed by Albert Randolph Ross in the Beaux-Arts style, using white Vermont marble. The building opened in 1907.
Gahanna was founded along the Big Walnut Creek in 1849 by John Clark of Ross County from 800 acres (320 ha) of land that his father, Joseph Clark, had purchased from Governor Worthington in 1814. [6] Clark named his property the Gahanna Plantation, from which the City of Gahanna derives its name. [ 7 ]
In the early 1970s, further Walnut Creek housing developments were proposed in the Mount Diablo foothills.
