Essex County is a county located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Vermont. As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,920, [1] making it the least-populous county in both Vermont and New England. Its shire town (county seat) is the municipality of Guildhall. Black Turn Brook State Forest covers 592 acres (2.40 km 2) in Norton, Vermont in Essex County near the Canadian border.
