Dunnes Stores is an Irish multinational retail chain that primarily sells food, clothes and household wares. It was founded by Ben Dunne in 1944. In addition to its main customer base in Ireland, the chain also has operations in Spain. [ 5 ]
By 1964, Dunnes Stores had expanded into grocery and had an annual turnover of £6 million. Dunne purchased two other Dublin stores, Bolger's and Cassidy's, in 1972 which had 11 shops across Dublin combined. Dunnes Stores opened its first branch in Northern Ireland in 1976. [1]

Cornelscourt (Irish: Cúirt an Choirnéil) is a small suburban area within the traditional County Dublin, now in the jurisdiction of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown.Situated between Cabinteely, Carrickmines and Foxrock, it is a primarily residential area, but is perhaps best known for being the site of Ireland's first big-box store, a branch of Dunnes Stores, and the country's first drive-through bank.
