The NEMA TT-30 (TT stands for Travel Trailer) connector is a 120 V 30 A recreational vehicle standard (hot-neutral-ground), also known as RV 30. The TT-30R receptacle is commonly available in nearly all RV parks in the United States and Canada, and all but the largest RVs manufactured since the 1970s use this plug to connect to power feeds.
The term plug is in general and technical use in all forms of English, common alternatives being power plug, [1] electric plug, [2] and (in the UK) plug top. [3] The normal technical term (in both British and International English) for an AC power socket is socket-outlet , [ 4 ] but in non-technical common use a number of other terms are used.
"Switched socket-outlets and connectors with or without interlock" applies to self-contained products that combine within a single enclosure, a socket-outlet or connector according to IEC 60309-1 or IEC 60309-2 and a switching device, with a rated operating voltage not exceeding 1000 VDC or VAC and 500 Hz, and a rated current not exceeding 800 A.
As in the UK, 240 V is within the allowable limits and "240 volt" is a synonym for mains in Australian and British English. In the United States [ 12 ] [ 13 ] and Canada, [ 14 ] national standards specify that the nominal voltage at the source should be 120 V and allow a range of 114 V to 126 V ( RMS ) (−5% to +5%).
240 V circuits are used for high-demand applications, such as air conditioners, space heaters, electric stoves, electric clothes dryers, water heaters, and electric vehicle charge points. These use NEMA 10 or NEMA 14 outlets that will not accept 120 V plugs.
The 16 amp version uses wider pin spacing and larger pins. Hybrid outlets that accept both types are common and some also accept type F.
