The SAE steel grades system is a standard alloy numbering system (SAE J1086 – Numbering Metals and Alloys) for steel grades maintained by SAE International.. In the 1930s and 1940s, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) and SAE were both involved in efforts to standardize such a numbering system for steels.
In addition to the descriptive steel grade naming system indicated above, within EN 10027-2 is defined a system for creating unique steel grade numbers. While less descriptive and intuitive than the grand names they are easier to tabulate and use in data processing applications.
The 200 and 300 series are generally austenitic stainless steels, whereas the 400 series are either ferritic or martensitic. Some of the grades have a one-letter or two-letter suffix that indicates a particular modification of the composition. [1] In 1995 the AISI turned over future maintenance of the system to the Society of Automotive ...
UNS K11547 is T2 tool steel; UNS S17400 is ASTM grade 630, Cr-Ni 17-4PH precipitation hardened stainless steel; UNS S30400 is SAE 304, Cr/Ni 18/10, Euronorm 1.4301 stainless steel; UNS S31600 is SAE 316; UNS S31603 is 316L, a low carbon version of 316. The digits "03" were assigned since the maximum allowed carbon content is 0.03%; UNS C90300 ...
1100 aluminium alloy is an aluminium-based alloy in the "commercially pure" wrought family (1000 or 1xxx series). With a minimum of 99.0% aluminium, it is the most heavily alloyed of the 1000 series. It is also the mechanically strongest alloy in the series, and is the only 1000-series alloy commonly used in rivets.
CPM REX series. CPM REX M4 HC (AISI M4) [46] is a high-speed tool steel produced by Crucible using CPM process. [14] M4 has been around for a relatively long time, lately entering custom and high-end production knives. Popular steel for use in Blade sports Competition Cutting knives.
Oil prices bounced around quite a bit in 2024. They rallied more than 20% at one point -- topping $85 per barrel -- before cooling off toward the end of the year.
P-type tool steel is short for plastic mold steels. They are designed to meet the requirements of zinc die casting and plastic injection molding dies. L-type tool steel is short for low alloy special purpose tool steel. L6 is extremely tough. F-type tool steel is water hardened and substantially more wear resistant than W-type tool steel.
