The Downtown Wenatchee Historic District, located in Wenatchee, Washington, United States, is a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [1] The district, encompassing 34 acres (14 ha), is a collection of commercial, mixed-used, and warehouse buildings located in the central business district of Wenatchee downtown.
SR 285 begins its 5.04-mile-long (8.11 km) long route at a partial cloverleaf interchange with SR 28 west of the Wenatchee Valley Mall in East Wenatchee. [1] [3] The freeway crosses the Columbia River from Douglas County into Wenatchee and Chelan County on the Senator George Sellar Bridge, listed as a part of the National Register of Historic Places.
The highway was extended further north through East Wenatchee in 1975 after US 2 was rerouted onto the newly-completed Richard Odabashian Bridge. [38] In the 1980s and 1990s, government officials in East Wenatchee proposed the construction of a parkway along the Columbia River to replace a section of SR 28 with a wider, modern highway. [39]
The Wenatchee–East Wenatchee Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of Chelan and Douglas Counties in Washington state, anchored by the cities of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee. According to the 2000 census the MSA had a population of 99,219.
The population at the 2010 census was 13,190, a 129.1% increase on the 2000 census, having annexed much of the East Wenatchee Bench CDP. As of the 2020 census, the population increased to 14,158. East Wenatchee lies on the east shore of the Columbia River, opposite Wenatchee on the west shore.
