The "Gaps" project is a multi-stage project to widen MN 23 to four lanes in the two remaining two-lane sections between Willmar and St. Cloud. The nine-mile (14 km) North Gap started expansion in May 2022, and is expected to complete in November 2023. [16] The 7-mile (11 km) South Gap is planned to begin in 2023 and be completed in 2024.
