In 1939, the editor revised it, deleting several poems (especially from the late 19th century) that he regretted including and adding instead many poems published before 1901 as well as poems published up to 1918. James Kennedy OBE (20 July 1902 – 6 April 1984) was an Irish songwriter. [1] He was predominantly a lyricist, putting words to existing music such as " Teddy Bears' Picnic " and " My Prayer " or co-writing with composers like Michael Carr , Wilhelm Grosz and Nat Simon .
