Leeds Beckett University (LBU), formerly known as Leeds Metropolitan University (LMU) and before that as Leeds Polytechnic, is a public university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It has campuses in the city centre and Headingley. The university's origins can be traced to 1824, with the foundation of the Leeds Mechanics Institute.

Polytechnic College of Pennsylvania was an engineering school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded in 1853. It was the eighth school of engineering in the United States [ 1 ] : 106 and the first to offer degree programs in mechanical engineering, mining engineering , and architecture.
After leaving parliament, Price was Director of Leeds Polytechnic - later becoming Vice-Chancellor of the polytechnic's successor body, Leeds Metropolitan University. He was a founder member of the British Committee for the Reunification of the Parthenon Marbles. Price was the Chairman of the New Statesman between 1994 and 1995. [3]
