The DCRRC Track Championships is an annual all-comers track meet in the United States that has been held since the early 1990s. It is hosted by the DC Road Runners Club. Although it has offered multiple distances, it historically emphasizes the mile race. From 2012 the meet has offered prize money in an effort to attract more runners.
DCRRC was founded in 1961 by Hugh Jascourt. DCRRC has 1,500 members principally from Virginia, the District of Columbia and Maryland. It conducts over 50 races each year, including the Washington Birthday Marathon and the National Capital 20 Miler. Members accumulate points in a summer Bunion Derby Series and a winter Snowball Series.
The Catoctin Mountain Park Run was a 10K run (6.2 miles) organized by the Jimmy Carter administration in September 1979. The event was set up by the White House to give Carter a chance to run a competitive road race without the security risk of a third-party organizer.
