Mount Foraker is a 17,400-foot (5,304 m) mountain in the central Alaska Range, in Denali National Park, 14 mi (23 km) southwest of Denali. It is the second highest peak in the Alaska Range , and the third highest peak in the United States .
Of the 100 most prominent summits of Alaska, only Denali exceeds 4000 meters (13,123 feet) of topographic prominence, six peaks exceed 3000 meters (9843 feet), 26 peaks exceed 2000 meters (6562 feet), and 65 peaks are ultra-prominent summits with at least 1500 meters (4921 feet) of topographic prominence.
The central Alaska Range is dominated by the enormous Denali and its complex of subsidiary summits, spurs and buttresses. Of the other central Alaska Range summits, only Mount Foraker substantially exceeds 14,000 feet (4,300 m), and most prominent peaks are in the 10,000-foot (3,000 m) – 12,500-foot (3,800 m) range.
