Established in 1966, Archbishop Ryan High School is the largest Catholic secondary school in the city of Philadelphia, with a current enrollment of 848 students as of the 2023-2024 school year. Its students come from over 60 Catholic, public, and charter elementary schools located throughout Philadelphia, Bucks, and Montgomery Counties.
The diocese paid a $1.2 million settlement in June 2009 to a man from Yuma, Arizona, who had been sexually assaulted by two priests in Salinas when he was a child. [ 26 ] The first priest was Reverend Juan Guillen, who the victim said raped him multiple times when he was an altar boy between age eight and 15.

Salinas Union High School District is a public school district in Monterey County, California, United States. The feeder districts are Alisal Union, Graves, Lagunita, Salinas City, Santa Rita, Spreckels and Washington Union. Born in Philadelphia to Theodore (a Philadelphia police officer) and Marie Wycheck, Wycheck attended Archbishop Ryan High School in Northeast Philadelphia and the University of Maryland, College Park. [1] [2] [3] At Archbishop Ryan, Wycheck was twice an All-Catholic running back and graduated as the school’s all-time leading rusher. [3]
Blase Cupich was born on March 19, 1949, in Omaha, Nebraska, into a family of Croatian descent, one of the nine children of Blase and Mary (née Mayhan) Cupich. [4] He attended Saint John Vianney Minor Seminary in Elkhorn, Nebraska, and then Archbishop Ryan High School in Omaha, Nebraska.
