The Savannah State Tigers football team represents Savannah State University in college football. The Tigers are members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). [2] The football team is traditionally the most popular sport at Savannah State and home games are played at Ted A. Wright Stadium in Savannah, Georgia.
1969 – Albany State College (now Albany State University) and Savannah State College (now Savannah State University) joined the SIAC in the 1969–70 academic year. 1971 – South Carolina State left the SIAC after the 1970–71 academic year. 1976 – Alabama State left the SIAC after the 1975–76 academic year.

The Tigers play their home games in Tiger Arena on the university's Savannah, Georgia campus. They are currently coached by Horace Broadnax who is in his 19th season as head coach of the Tigers. They competed in NCAA Division I in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference from 2010 to 2019, [ 3 ] but never qualified for the NCAA Division I tournament.
