The Dothan Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of Geneva, Henry, and Houston counties in southeastern Alabama, anchored by the city of Dothan, county seat of Houston County. As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 145,639. [1]
Dothan is the principal city of the Dothan, Alabama metropolitan area, which encompasses all of Geneva, Henry, and Houston counties; the small portion in Dale County is part of the Ozark Micropolitan Statistical Area. Together they form the Dothan-Ozark Combined Statistical Area.
It was built to house facilities of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, the United States Post Office and other federal agencies. In 1952 a plain one-story addition was added in the rear of the building, and in 1962 the post office moved to a new facility.
