Weekly Reader was a weekly educational classroom magazine designed for children. It began in 1928 as My Weekly Reader . Editions covered curriculum themes in the younger grade levels and news-based, current events and curriculum themed-issues in older grade levels.
Weekly Reader also published branded periodicals and instructional materials for middle and high school students, along with a full range of supplementary educational materials for grades Pre-K–9. These curriculum-specific products included classroom magazines, workbooks, reproducibles, early learning centers, and more.
Johnson co-founded My Weekly Reader in 1934. She served as the editor-in-chief for the publication, joining the staff of American Education Publications in 1935. The paper was first published in 1928. She was also involved in the publishing of Current Events and was the author of textbooks on mathematics, reading, and geography. [1]
In February 2012, Scholastic bought Weekly Reader Publishing from Reader's Digest Association, and announced in July 2012 that it planned to discontinue separate issues of Weekly Reader magazines after more than a century of publication, and co-branded the magazines as Scholastic News/Weekly Reader. My Weekly Reader is the sixth studio album by American singer-songwriter Nellie McKay, consisting of covers of hits from the 1960s. The album entered the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, and garnered positive reviews upon its release.
