Liu Xiang (simplified Chinese: 刘 翔; traditional Chinese: 劉 翔; pinyin: Liú Xiáng; born July 13, 1983) is a Chinese former 110 meter hurdler. Liu is an Olympic Gold medalist [2] and World Champion. [3] His 2004 Olympic gold medal [4] was the first in a men's track and field event for China.
The final featured the three fastest 110 hurdlers in history. World Record Holder Dayron Robles took an early lead but was being passed by former record holder Liu Xiang. Between the last two hurdles, Robles' right arm backswing caught Liu's oncoming left arm.
