Alverstoke is a village in the borough of Gosport, on the south coast of Hampshire, England. It stretches east–west from Fort Blockhouse , Haslar to Browndown Battery, and is centred 0.5 miles (0.80 km) east of the shore of Stokes Bay and near the head of a creek which extends a mile westward from Portsmouth Harbour.

The Alverstoke Open [1] was an annual combined tennis tournament founded in 1909 as the Gosport Tournament at Alverstoke, Hampshire, England. [2] The tournament was mainly played on grass courts except for the 1921 to 1923 editions which were played on clay courts.
Beyond Browndown eastwards, is the more affluent district and village of Alverstoke and seafront known as Stokes Bay. The High Street is unique as it is home to over 70 independent shops and businesses, the oldest of which is The Book Shop established in 1933 and still operates in the same building.
The station's name was changed to Gosport Road on 8 November 1866 and changed again to Gosport Road and Alverstoke in October 1893. It closed on 1 November 1915. [ 1 ] The station buildings were converted to housing for the station guard. [ 2 ]
