Bhaskaran Sivasankaran Nair, popularly known as Bichu Thirumala (13 February 1942 – 26 November 2021), was an Indian lyricist and poet. [1] [2] He is known for creating the style of arranging beautiful words in Malayalam film songs. In Malayalam cinema, Bichu Thirumala led the group of lyricists who wrote songs for readymade tunes.
Raveendran's film music composing career starts from the J. Sasikumar directed 1979 movie Choola, from which the song "Taarake mizhiyithalil kanneerumayi", rendered by his music college friend K. J. Yesudas, became a hit.
Shyam apprenticed under maestros M. S. Viswanathan and Salil Chowdhury, [2] the former renaming him 'Shyam'. He has been an assistant for various music directors including Salil Chowdhury, Rajan Nagendra, Satyam, S. Rajeswara Rao, Pendyala Nageswara Rao, AM Raja, TG Lingappa etc for several years before venturing as an independent music director.
