The Deeper I get into reading about exposure, the more Dynamic Range is mention. If we adding a fourth - Dynamic Ranger (DR) - to Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO is that more in line with today's digital camera exposure technology OR is DR not important? In other words, should I focus on the...

The "exposure triangle" can initially seem a helpful construct for beginners but it leads to incorrect conclusions about cause and effect. In this last sentence as you list attendant effects you list the classic "exposure triangle" secondary effects: 1. depth of field = aperture 2. stop action or blur = shutter speed 3. noise and highlights = ISO

Robmas4229 said: It would seem you are seeing the results of your exposure triangle settings, reflecting your actual exposure. Correct, but you can override this by viewing a "gained up" view by selecting exposure preview off as dincz suggests. Useful if taking a flash image with no or little ambient light. In the extremes of the exposure triangle, the camera will have only one choice - if the ISO is already on the low end (a very bright image), the camera will change the shutter speed; with a very dark image, when the shutter speed is already low, the camera will raise the ISO.

Usually, you camera warns you by turning the setting that can't cope into red in your display: for instance, if you have set the camera to MS only, and your f stop and ISO are fixed settings, and the complementary setting (exposure triangle), SS, needs to be over 1/4000th or 1/8000th according to your camera, then the EVF will still look good ...
