Homewood is a city in southeastern Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. It is a suburb of Birmingham , located on the other side of Red Mountain due south of the city center. The population was 26,414 at the 2020 census .
The hotel was a well-known hotel for holiday makers ranging from families to older residents. It had been built in Island Crescent between 1912 and 1917, and had been altered more than once. The building had a wooden fire escape at the rear, and a central light shaft running from the ground floor up to the roof in the centre of the hotel.
The Rosedale Historic District in Homewood, Alabama is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The listing included 143 contributing buildings on 250 acres (1.0 km 2). [1] Another part of the Rosedale Neighborhood is included in the NRHP as Rosedale Park Historic District (Homewood, Alabama).
