Typically they have numerous 5-litre containers each of White Spirit and Turps Substitute shelved in close proximity.

I can see good reason to merge these, giving a clearer overall article, but it has to lose the falsehood that "white spirit" and "substitute turpentine" (both UK) are the same thing. They both have formal definitions and although both are mineral petroleum derivatives, they are significantly different.
