These resources will help you research the people and places of Anoka County. Our collections are used by students of all ages, by local citizens interested in the stories of the places where they live and work, and by genealogists researching family history, among many others.
ACHS broke new ground in the past year with programming of all sorts, gradually adjusted museum open hours welcoming patrons and volunteers back, and navigated a sold-out return to Ghost Tours in the Fall. Help us celebrate 2021 together as we look forward to 2022 and where the Anoka County Historical Society is heading in the future.

Our costumed tour guides will take you on a walk through historic neighborhoods of Anoka. You’ll view (from the outside) homes and businesses that have been privy to some unexplained events, while your guide shares real stories that have been brought to the Anoka County Historical Society by the people who live and work in these buildings.
The Anoka County History Center features approximately 2,000 square feet of display space in our gallery hall. Our exhibitions, which have been nationally recognized, tell the story of Anoka County and its people with objects, photographs, and documents from our collection.

The point of land between the two rivers was a special place to the Native Americans, and a trail ran along the top of the bluff. No one knows how long the Ojibwe used that trail, but people noted it as a well-worn path in the earliest available historical references.
