The Nashville Housing Authority (NHA) was the predecessor to the MDHA it received approval by the City Council on Oct. 31, 1938. The housing authority was set up after the passage of the United States Housing Act of 1937. In December 1972 the NHA board recommended a name change to the Metro Development and Housing Agency (MDHA). [1]
The area started in the early 1800s as a rural Nashville neighborhood. Many wealthy people and professionals from Nashville built estates in Edgefield. The outlaw Jesse James lived in Edgefield and his address was 712 Fatherland Street. In 1869 Edgefield became a city, and in 1880, it was annexed by the city of Nashville. [2]

On August 5, 2010, voters within the city passed a referendum to dissolve the municipal charter and become part of the General Services District of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. The dissolution passed by one vote: 400 to 399. [3]
It became the Nashville Children's Museum in 1945. In 1974 the museum moved to a new facility at 800 Fort Negley Boulevard, became the Cumberland Science Museum and is now known as the Adventure Science Center. Oak Hill is a city in Davidson County, Tennessee. The population was 4,529 at the 2010 census. [6] The Tennessee Governor's Mansion is located in the city. Although the city is administered under the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, it retains its own municipal government.
