3,3’,4,4’-Benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA) is chemically, an aromatic organic acid dianhydride. It may be used to cure epoxy-based powder coatings. It has the CAS Registry Number of 2421-28-5 and a European Community number 219-348-1.
3D printing, or additive manufacturing, is the construction of a three-dimensional object from a CAD model or a digital 3D model. [1] [2] [3] It can be done in a variety of processes in which material is deposited, joined or solidified under computer control, [4] with the material being added together (such as plastics, liquids or powder grains being fused), typically layer by layer.
Cationically crosslinked ECC is used in a variety of industrial applications, due to its low viscosity, excellent electrical properties and high reliability among others as an electrical insulator, as coating and adhesive or as printing ink. [7] Homopolymerized ECC, however, is extremely brittle, which is disadvantageous.
Acrylated urethane oligomers are typically abrasion resistant, tough, and flexible, making ideal coatings for floors, paper, printing plates, and packaging materials. Acrylated polyethers and polyesters result in very hard solvent resistant films, however, polyethers are prone to UV degradation and therefore are rarely used in UV curable material.
Epoxy coatings have also been used in drinking water applications. [42] Epoxy coatings find much use to protect mild and other steels due to their excellent protective properties. [43] Change in color, known as yellowing, is a common phenomenon for epoxy materials and is often of concern in art and conservation applications.
The term "Three-Dimensional Printing" was trademarked by the research group at MIT, along with the abbreviation 3DP. [5] [6] As a result, the term "3D printing" originally referred uniquely to the binder jet printing process prior to gaining wider acceptance as a term referring to all additive manufacturing processes.
As an epoxy modifier it is classed as an epoxy reactive diluent. [8] It is one of a family of glycidyl ethers available used for viscosity reduction of epoxy resins. [9] These are then further formulated into coatings, sealants, adhesives, and elastomers. [10] [11] Resins with this diluent tend to show improved workability. [12]
As an Epoxy modifier it is classed as an epoxy reactive diluent. [8] which may then be formulated into CASE applications: Coatings, [9] Adhesives, [10] Sealants and Elastomers and composite materials. These uses include cationic polymerization reactions. [11] [12] The use of the diluent does effect mechanical properties and microstructure of ...
