The 23rd African Championships in Athletics was held in Douala, Cameroon from 21 to 26 June 2024, at the Japoma Stadium Sports Complex. This was the second time the event took place in Cameroon, after they previously hosted the event in 1996. Over 800 athletes from 49 African countries competed at the championships. [1]

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Nigeria. It is a member of the Confederation of African Athletics and the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was founded as the Central Committee of the Amateur Athletic Association of Nigeria in 1944. [1]
