Oscar Emmanuel Peterson CC CQ OOnt (August 15, 1925 – December 23, 2007) [1] was a Canadian jazz pianist and composer. A virtuoso and considered to be one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time, Peterson released more than 200 recordings, won eight Grammy Awards, as well as a lifetime achievement award from the Recording Academy, and received numerous other awards and honours.
From 1951 to 1965, Brown was a member of the Oscar Peterson Trio. The trio included a guitarist until 1958 (initially Barney Kessel, and then Herb Ellis). After Ellis left the group, Peterson decided to continue the trio with Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen. [3]

Edmund Leonard Thigpen (December 28, 1930 – January 13, 2010) [1] was an American jazz drummer, best known for his work with the Oscar Peterson trio from 1959 to 1965. Thigpen also performed with the Billy Taylor trio from 1956 to 1959.
The Trio is a jazz live album by pianist Oscar Peterson, guitarist Joe Pass, and bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen. Released in 1974, the album won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Performance by a Group in 1975.
