During the American Civil War, Breaux Bridge was the site of an engagement known as the "Battle of Breaux Bridge." According to Andrew B. Booth’s 1920 "Index to Battles, Campaigns, Engagements, Etc., Fought Within the Limits of the State of Louisiana, 1861–1865," military actions took place at Breaux Bridge on April 17 and April 21, 1863. Riverside Park is a public park located on the riverfront of downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin. It hosts events such as Riverfest, Fourth of July fireworks, Oktoberfest, Moon Tunes, and the Rotary Lights. The steamboats American Queen, La Crosse Queen, and Julia Belle Swain make stops along the river in the park. The park has walking/running trails.
