The U.S. Post Office and Courthouse in Bismarck, North Dakota, United States, was built during 1912–13 and expanded in 1937. It was designed by James Knox Taylor and includes Late 19th and 20th Century Revivals architecture and Second Renaissance Revival architecture .
Fisher homesteaded in Edwinton (Bismarck) in 1872 and made his fortune in banking, real estate and liquor sales. In 1893, the house was sold to the state for $5000. The house was the governor's residence from 1893 to 1960 and was the home of twenty North Dakota governors.
The Liberty Memorial Building is located at 604 East Boulevard Avenue on the capitol grounds in Bismarck. It was originally built to provide additional office space for state agencies and to mark the end of World War I. The Webb Brothers Department Store occupied the building from 1899. The Webb brothers, William Henry Webb, Jr. (1862-1945) and Philip Barnard Webb (1859-1952), were born in England and immigrated to the United States with their parents in 1871. They arrived in Dakota Territory in 1883. They came to Bismarck in 1884 and opened a furniture store.
