USS Wasp was a sloop-of-war that served in the United States Navy in 1814 during the War of 1812.She was the fifth United States Navy ship to carry that name. She carried out two successful raiding voyages against British trade during the summer of 1814, in the course of which she captured two brig-sloops of the Royal Navy.
A sloop-of-war was quite different from a civilian or mercantile sloop, which was a general term for a single-masted vessel rigged in a way that would today be called a gaff cutter (but usually without the square topsails then carried by cutter-rigged vessels), though some sloops of that type did serve in the 18th century British Royal Navy, particularly on the Great Lakes of North America.

HMS Wasp (1812) was an 18-gun Cruizer-class brig-sloop launched in 1812. She was broken up in 1847. HMS Wasp (1850) was an Archer-class wooden screw sloop launched in 1850. She was sold in 1869.
