For a Rogue, Daggers are essentially melee weapons that have 20-foot reach. Say you temporarily have only the use of one hand for combat. Maybe you're climbing a wall or cliff face. Maybe you've grappled a hostage. Maybe you need a healer for your recently crushed hand from losing at arm-wrestle.
Instead of attacking many times per round, a rogue gets one big hit per turn. You get 1d6 for every odd level in Rogue. So let's take a level 5 rogue with max dex and a standard dagger, shortsword and rapier. Dagger: d4+3d6+5 = min 9, avg 18, max 27. Shortsword: 4d6+5 = min 9, avg 19, max 29.
For you, this would be 1d20+2+2. For the damage, you roll the damage dice and add the attacking ability score modifier. So for you, this dagger would be 1d4+2 (from having either a 14/15 in strength or dex). Your Strength or Dexterety modifier. Either your strength or dexterity modifier. Being proficient in a weapon allows you to add a modifier ...
Even worse for the Quarterstaff, if I had a dagger, I'd always have one hand open to do this. The dagger would also let me use a second dagger to get a bonus attack in, should i ever be in a situation where my spells are less useful than mundane attack :/ The arcane focus angle is nice, but seems over shadowed by pouches and/or crystal amulets.
The first is a STR fighter, the second is a DEX monk. 1: You will be going Rogue (Thief) 4 / Ranger (Hunter) 2 / Fighter (Battlemaster) 6 as Variant Human (Dual Wielder). Assuming Point Buy: 15-14-15-8-10-8 before racial mods, 16-14-16-8-10-8 after. Dual Wielder lets us draw two daggers/interaction and nets us +1 AC.
The DMG and XGTE give conflicting answers on how much magic items cost. In theory, they're priceless and it makes more sense to trade them for other magic items of similar rarity. +1 Weapons are uncommon, +2 Weapons are rare and +3 Weapons are very rare. According to DMG p135 the value of uncommon is 101-500gp, rare is 501-5,000gp and very rare ...
Reply. CrazyCoolCelt. • 3 yr. ago. you can wield them in either hand, yes, but you cannot benefit from Two Weapon Fighting since only one of them is Light. so if you do wield a rapier + dagger, youre basically nerfing yourself since you could be holding a shield or the dagger hand could be used to do something else. 5.
This thrown attack has a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet. On a hit, the blade deals its regular sword damage and the target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. Additionally, the blade remains lodged in the target. While you are wielding the daggersword in dagger form, you can make an attack ...
