In a recent issue that I've encountered, not mine but a fellow NCO, the question came up of "what is our units UIC?" Now past experience tells me I can go to other fellow NCO's, senior NCO's, S-1 and even the internet to research it, but where does the UIC stem from and how would one go about looking it up just in case trust is an issue? Second question, what UIC is used on an NCOER, the ...
There are multiple places to look up a Unit Identification Code (UIC) with a CAC card. One of which is USAFMSA FMS Web. Someone in the S1 world could also look it up. You can google a UIC, however, if it is reception, you'd need to know the short hand SFC (Join to see) describes. You can go to the Hood website and look at tenant units.
If you have access to DECKPLATE, you can use the ORG Code Translator to look up what unit the UIC is attached to. From the DECKPLATE homepage, click on the DECKPLATE Reference Lookups link on the left hand side. Then click on the Organization Translator and then you can look up the particular UIC to see who it belongs to.
UIC Code Lookup PCSing to Ft Stewart in an ABCT unit but I only have the UIC to go off of and have no clue where to lookup or find the unit it belongs to if someone can send me a way to find it that would be nice.
Anyone know where I can look up these codes? Cursory Google search didn't help....
Your orders should have the unit next to the UIC. You usually can't tell what battalion you're going to end up in. The UIC and unit that are on your orders are you usually the replacement UIC for your brigade, unless you have pinpoint orders telling you exactly which battalion you are going to. Check to see if you have been assigned a sponsor yet.
Chances are the UIC on your orders is either the Reception unit or your BDE. The Army doesn't usually assign you any lower than the BDE level, except in instances where the unit isn't colocated with the BDE.
Wait till you get your orders. On those orders there should be a uic (Unit Identification Code) number (ex: WACQT0 or something like that.) It’s not going to give you your specific unit, until you in process with whatever reception company your base has.
