I've just discovered complimentary shader recently and it looks amazing! That said, during the day, its extremely bright when looking at the horizon/long distance. It great for hiding the render distance border, but I'm wondering if there's any specific setting to turn down a notch.
I have read newest Complementary beta version supports DH, but is paywalled on Patreon so far. With Bliss shader i got rid of that ugly brown fog and can see pretty far and well. I still see pop ups, but i have default DH settings so it takes some time to generate DH objects and i didnt even travel that far so load chunks (always it was new world).

Complementary Shaders have been changed drastically recently. It seems it no longer has a compatibility mode, and I assume it is just built in at this point. There is however a list of fixes for common mod incompatibilities if you are still facing problems.
Complementary is actually pretty light in my experience. It's also compatible with a lot of mods that are otherwise broken by shaders, like Better End. It's one of the better shader options out there right now.
Update: currently trying to load into my world/server with complementary reimagined, Rubidium, and Oculus. The game crashes every time I spawn into my server Game crashes with oculus.
Hey I made my first post here the other day curious about shaders because I never used them before and I decided to go with Complementary. In regards to this my new GPU came in and I want to have some fun with shaders now. In your opinion what’s best for the settings? I have 3080ti and i7 10700k.
In theory, it'd probably be within the shader file. To that end, I can't help with. That's 'expertise' I've never delved into myself. Perhaps if you poke around, you'll be able to find how it manages to make these blocks glow. I'm just spitballing, but there probably are lines that specifically tells what blocks to emit.
The shader pack button should be under video settings once Optifine is installed. Last time I checked, the Optifine release for 1.17 has not implemented shaders yet, so it is grayed out. Edit: and to be clear, the Minecraft running on Curseforge is a different instance than the original game.
