The University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila (UET Taxila) is a public university located in Taxila, Punjab, Pakistan. It was established in 1975 as a campus of the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore and chartered as an independent university in 1993.
Its engineering programs are affiliated with University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila (UET, Taxila) [4] and management programs are affiliated with National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad (NUML). Initially, it started only management sciences, computer science and software engineering.

HITEC University commenced classes in November 2007 with an intake of 250 students, in affiliation with the University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila. The university was granted its own charter in November 2009 by the government of Punjab. The university is sponsored by the Heavy Industries Taxila Education Welfare Trust.
The institute was started on September 12, 2001, at the Software Technology Park, Islamabad, in affiliation with the University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila. The affiliation permitted it to start M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree programs in computer engineering.
Up to date, the HEC has published rankings for the years 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014 and most recently 2015. [2] In addition to the top ten and general rankings, independent rankings are also provided for universities and institutes in the categories of agriculture and veterinary science; arts and design; business; engineering and technology; and medicine. Each year around 40,000 students attempt this test while there are around 3000 open merit seats in public sector engineering institutions of the Punjab. ECAT is a prerequisite for admission in the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, its affiliated institutions and all other public sector engineering institutions in the Punjab. [ 1 ]
