Pakistan International Airlines Corporation, commonly known as Pakistan International Airlines or PIA, is the flag carrier airline of Pakistan. The airline has its head office on the grounds of Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. [1] [2] Its main bases are Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad/Rawalpindi.
The aircraft was a Boeing 720-040B [note 1] with the registration AP-AMH and manufacturer's serial number 18379; it was first flown on 19 October 1962 and delivered to Pakistan International Airlines on 7 November 1962. [6]
The aircraft involved was an Airbus A320-214, [23] built by Airbus Industrie in 2004, with registration AP-BLD and MSN 2274, and owned by GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS). [24] [8] The plane was powered by two CFM International CFM56-5B4/P engines, [25] [24] which were most recently installed in February and May 2019. [18]
